Claire Dennis, ERA 2023
Claire joined ERA after completing her Master's in Public Affairs at Princeton, where she focused on climate change and AI policy. Her experience included representing Princeton at COP27 and serving as a Policy Fellow at the Responsible AI Institute. During her ERA fellowship, Claire explored the UN's potential role in AI governance, co-authoring a report titled "Towards a UN Role in Governing Foundation Artificial Intelligence Models" with collaborators from the Simon Institute and UN University.
Claire describes the ERA fellowship as a turning point in her career, introducing her to a community of passionate researchers exploring AI's implications. The programme's timing allowed her to analyse rapid developments in AI governance alongside like-minded individuals. After ERA, Claire pursued opportunities with the UN and US Government while co-authoring a paper on international AI governance frameworks, aiming to make a meaningful impact in this nascent field. She is now a Research Scholar at the Centre for the Governance of AI.

Iyngkarran Kumar, ERA 2023
Iyngkarran joined ERA after completing his undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at Durham University, where he focused on physics and computer science. During his studies, he participated in BlueDot’s AGISF and organized a reading group on existential risk. As an ERA AI Governance fellow, Iyngkarran modeled potential cyber attacks from advanced AI systems, identifying bottlenecks and proposing preventive measures.
Currently, he works as a research assistant at the Transformative Futures Institute, forecasting impacts of transformative AI systems and exploring AI takeoff speeds. On his time at ERA, Iyngkarran said “the networks developed during the fellowship through interactions with mentor, research manager and other fellows are invaluable, and it’s highly likely that I would not be working in my current position if not for the fellowship.”
